The capability has been conceived as a MACRO-MODULE composed by three modules, which can either inter-operate or work independently, according to the possible intervention scenarios:
1. Basic Seismic Assessment module (BSA): for ordinary usability assessment.(Resp. DPC) 2. Advanced Seismic Assessment module (ASA): for strategic and/or complex structures, with dedicated instrumentation. (Resp. EUCENTRE) 3. Short-term countermeasures module (STC): to prop up damaged structures and infrastructures. (Resp. VVF)
Such a structure allows ensuring the future possibility of a modular implementation by the Member States, according to their available resources.
Intervention Scenarios
| For ordinary buildings, surveys are carried out by BSA teams. In case of need of short-term countermeasures for public safety reasons, the STC team is immediately involved. Then, if possible, the usability is evaluated, otherwise the ASA teams are called. |
 |
| For strategic/complex structures, surveys are carried out by ASA teams. In case of need of short-term countermeasures for public safety reasons, the STC team is immediately involved. Then, the usability is evaluated, based on numerical and experimental investigation. |
 |
| When the STC team arrive first, they evaluate the need for short-term countermeasures. Following, BSA or ASA teams are called for the usability evaluation, if needed. |
